*LET THERE BE LIGHT IN IKOM, CROSS RIVER STATE, NIGERIA.*
Ikom in Cross River State of Nigeria accounts for a significant percentage of the State’s commercial activities. Comparing Ikom Local Government Area with other emerging economies in the State, Ikom ranks higher and it is a very strategic contributor to the State’s internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Sadly for the people of the area, the commercial town has been without electricity for years now. This power outage has created setbacks in businesses in this part of the State with adverse effect on the State’s revenue and more importantly making life so difficult for CrossRiverians, other Nigerians and foreign nationals who live and do business there.
There is no better time than now, in the “People’s First” administration for the government to swiftly address this energy problem to make life better for the people while eradicating bottlenecks and hiccups in doing business in this area.
When resolved, industries would experience boost and more would spring up and the moribund businesses will be resuscitated.
Power remains a major contributory factor to industrialization and business growth, hence, the government at all levels must not relent in ensuring improvement on power supply across the state.
