OVERVIEW OF THE CROSS RIVER STATE MINISTRY OF AVIATION
The Cross River State Ministry Of Aviation was created by His Excellency, Sen. Prof Ben Ayade the immediate past Governor of Cross River State in 2019.
The mandate of the Ministry is to develop an Aviation Industry to boost the industrialization and tourism goals of the State by establishing an International Passenger/Cargo Airport and float an Airline (Cally Air) for Cross River State.
The primary aim of operating an Airline and establishing an indigenous airport apart from enhancing industrialization, tourism and agricultural value chains is to enhance internally generated revenue potentials of the State which will have a direct positive effect on the developmental drive of the State.
VISION
The vision of the ministry is to make Cross River State a leading Nigerian State providing excellent service delivery in the Aviation Industry.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Ministry is to meet the increasing demands of Air Transport Service in the State through the establishment of a passenger/Cargo International Airport in the State and to float an Airline- Cally Air.
The Administrative Structure Of The Ministry
The Pioneer Commissioner,Ministry of Aviation was - Rt Hon Dr. Jacob Otu Enyia, KSJI. It has five functional departments and two units headed by Directors. The Departments/Units Are :

2, Planning Research And Statistics (PRS)
3, Finance And Supplies
4, Engineering Department
5, Procurement Department
6, Information Unit
7, Internal Audit Unit
Achievement/Major Strides
1, Acquisition of land for the Airport site was secured and compensation paid.
2, Clearing and removal of the top soil of 5.6km length of 1km width of runway have been effected.
3, Two No. Aircrafts B737 - B300 series was procured and paid for.
4, Land has been secured at Margaret Ekpo International and Cargo Airport for the construction of Hangar and VIP Lounge for Cally Air.
5, The cutting and filling of the runway at the Obudu International Airport Commerced but still inconclusive
6, Aeronautical/Cosmetic Maintenance of the No. B737-B300 Aircrafts MSN 29266 and MSN 30224 for Aircrafts delivery was done
7, Award of Contract of Obudu International Passenger/Cargo Airport to CIBA Construction Company Limited Achieved.
8, Recruitment/Training Of Cabin Crew Members in Lagos Nigeria Achieved.
We look forward with bated breath for the Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu’s Led Administration to rejig the system and reposition the Cross River State Aviation Industry in all ramifications. I hereby wish Capt. Imah Eno Utum, the current Commissioner Ministry of Aviation Cross River State the absolute best as he navigates to place the Aviation Subsector in Cross River State in the scheme of things in Nigeria and beyond.
