Members representing the good and reputable people of Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency Rt. Hon Mike Etaba, Mourns with the former governor as he mourns his late sister.The member representing Obubra/Etung green chamber Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba joined other prominent Cross Riverians to attend the Funeral Service conducted in honour of late Mrs Janet Unigar Ateb, sister of the immediate past Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade on Saturday, 9th December 2023, by the Assemblies of God Church in Obudu, Obudu District.
While condoling with the Ayade family, especially the former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Professor Ben Ayade, the husband of the deceased, Hon. Emmanuel Ateb, and the entire Obudu nation, Hon. Mike described her as a dedicated Christian, an epitome of hardwork, generously disposed to charity.
the Hon.member who grazed the funeral service Charged the former Governor and family in his words;
"Your Excellency, in this time of mourning, I wish to extend my deepest sympathies and to celebrate unequivocally the positive Impacts she had on countless lives within her few years on earth within and without her environs, I want the entire family and Your Excellency, to please be consoled as the Lord who had given has decided that she rest with him, I pray that her soul finds eternal repose with God Amen".
Late Mrs. Ateb was born on the 28th October, 1969 and attended St. Stephen Primary School Obudu and Ipong Secondary School before gaining admission into the prestigious University of Calabar where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension.
The Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, in his condolence message to the family says, "the late Mrs Ateb's unrivalled simplicity in her inter-personal relationship and the zeal she exhibited in the Lord's vineyard are virtues that outlive her demise" and therefore admonished the family to be consoled that she lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation"
Similarly, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, in their separate condolence messages, described the late Mrs. Janet Ateb as a devout Christian and hard-working personality who would be remembered for her generosity, selfless service and contributions to the good of humanity.
Late Janet Unigar Ateb who died on November 24, 2023 at the age of 54 after a brief illness, is survived by her husband, Hon. Emmanuel Ateb, children, siblings, in-laws and numerous relatives.
