The Cross River state government has restated its commitment towards providing decent and affordable housing to the citizenry.
The special adviser to the governor of social housing, Prince Ekanem Ekpo, who made this known in a release, said the social housing scheme is aimed at addressing the housing challenges faced by Cross Riverians particularly low-income households and vulnerable groups.
He explained that the department of Social Housing is established to oversee the implementation of social housing programs in the state, which include the development of new housing units and rehabilitation of existing ones.
"As you may be aware, access to affordable and decent housing is a fundamental human right, and our state is committed towards ensuring that every citizen has a safe and secure place to call home.
"The department of social housing is committed to promoting mixed-income housing developments, encouraging public private partnership for housing development as well as supporting vulnerable groups including the elderly,
widows and people with disabilities" Ekanem said
