The Attention of the Cross River Ministry of Education has been drawn to the information going on in the media following the release of WAEC 2024 results some days ago, in addressing the public outcry the Commissioner for Education Senator Stephen Odey (Associate Prof.), was on a fact finding mission to WAEC office Calabar early today's morning.
For the purpose of clarification, the indebtedness attached to some students' result has nothing to do with the free WAEC fee registration paid by the Governor of Cross River State Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu. It would be recalled that the Governor of Cross River State paid for the WAEC registration of 16, 301 candidates of Cross River indigenes in the 2024 May/June examination. Upon the arrival of the Commissioner for Education at the WAEC office today it was discovered that it is a new innovation from WAEC and a national issue, the indebtedness signal on the Students grades on WAEC results portal, is because of the internal indebtedness of some schools to WAEC due to any or all of the following:

*Low candidature fee / high candidature fee.
*Derecognition of WAEC centers in some school.
*Supervisors/Invigilators logistics etc.
By this notice the Commissioner for Education, has directed that all school Principals affected are to immediately report to WAEC office Calabar to settle their individual school's indebtedness so that the candidates results which the Government of Cross River State paid for, can be immediately released by WAEC accordingly.
