Rev. Fr. David Isieg Ijow was born to the family of late Mr Daniel Okpo Isieg and late Madam Sarah Okom Idambe Agara, of Ofumbongha Village in Obubra Local Government Area. He was raised to the Order of Diaconate on the 20th of December, 1998 and ordained a Priest on the 10th of July 1999. He celebrated his first Holy Mass on the 11th Of July, 1999 at St. Francis Xavier’s Parish, Obubra. Since then he has been in active service to God and humanity in multiple capacities.
On Friday 29th November, 2024 Rev. Fr. David Ijow Isieg celebrated the silver jubilee of his priestly ordination into the Catholic Priesthood.
Rt Hon Mike Etaba who doubles as the chairman of the occasion extended his warmest congratulations and deepest gratitude for his dedicated service to the Lord and his people. Noting that his tireless commitment to spreading the Gospel and serving the faithful is a testament to his devotion and love for God. He further reiterated that this milestone anniversary will not only be a celebration of his remarkable journey but a reminder of the countless lives he has touched. He affirmed that this 25years of selfless dedication, unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel, guiding the flock with compassion, and embodying the values of faith has inspired the community of his faithful followers.
According to him, Rev. Fr. Isieg’s call to a higher form of service 25years ago has yielded enormous harvest in all areas of life. Ceaselessly and unflinchingly, he has sowed the seed of Christianity and Catholicism in Ogoja Diocese and beyond.
He prayed fervently for the celebrant that as he looks back on the quarter of a century of priestly ministry, may he be filled with joy, gratitude, and a renewed sense of purpose. Stating that may his years be blessed with continued good health, spiritual fulfillment, and the love and support of his community.
Rt Hon. Etaba further participated in the Book Launching and donated the sum of 20Million as his contribution to promote God’s work. Very prominent personalities from all walks of life thronged the event venue in solidarity. Rev. Fr. David Ijow Isieg is a symbol of family cohesion and a worthy servant of God, who has dedicated his entire life in serving God and humanity. His defining legacies will remain indelible and it will continue to inspire future generations.
Rt. Hon Mike Etaba called on the youths to look up to such legacies for guidance and direction. He further noted that that the Carnival-like silver Jubilee celebration is reminiscent of the love and the refining quality of service that Rev. Fr David Ijow Isieg has rendered in his lifetime.
